Roundabout was designed during a Design Fellowship with the interior design firm Pophouse, in Detroit, MI. They challenged me to explore a unique solution to a common problem they see from their clients, and create a single show model prototype for their space.

Office culture is changing dramatically with a greater emphasis on communication and building relationships. I was inspired to create a piece that encouraged people to connect and be present in the moment.

I discovered the idea of a boat on water. A boat provides a sense of space that contains all individuals. When someone moves or the environment shifts, the boat responds with a motion that everyone participates in. This creates a heightened sense of awareness from each individual; feeling the space, feeling the presence of every other person there with them.
